Lithuanian food innovation company Super Garden is launching Space Snacks, two snack products inspired by the European Space Agency (ESA): Space Snacks with Spirulina and Space Snacks with Innovative Protein. It is the food product line developed within an ESA-funded research project and brought to market under an ESA trademark licence. The products reach consumers in August 2026.
The snacks were born out of an ESA-funded research project, in which Super Garden, together with the French Space Agency (CNES), Institute for Space Medicine and Physiology (Medes) and Biordico, developed and tested next-generation snack concepts for potential use in space. The commercial products now bring that work to everyone on Earth, a new milestone in the commercialisation of European space innovation.
The products feature freeze-dried cubes enriched with innovative protein ingredients, including spirulina and chlorella, selected for their functional and nutritional properties. Other innovative protein ingredients developed and evaluated during the project could not yet be incorporated into the commercial products, as they are still awaiting authorisation under the European Union’s Novel Food regulatory framework.
Space Snacks build on Super Garden’s expertise in special-purpose food for the space and defence sectors, where high nutritional value, low weight, long shelf life, and reliability under extreme conditions are essential. They are produced using the company’s patented technology.
Space Snacks open a new chapter in the company’s work in the space sector, building on earlier development that introduced Lithuania’s first space snack prototypes.

Space Snacks will be available through retail, e-commerce, and museum and science institution shops. Super Garden exports its products to more than 40 countries worldwide.
